I went to David Jones again to peruse the OPI nail polishes... I saw the Holiday colours, the Matte, and even the revive colours but none really took my fancy (well of those that were left, all the good colours were sold out). I didn't know I was getting one but "Curry Up Don't Be Late" stood out at me:
I was hesitant in getting this because the nail swatch made it look really sheer - and it was, it took me three coats to get it looking like the bottle:
I wasn't expecting a 'gold' colour, but I thought it was really nice on my nails. Uh, the colour difference was me switching from my Nikon D90 to my P80... as to which would be a better representation, I would say the second photo.
Ok where is the lush? :-) My thoughts exactly. I didn't get to go out to the city :-( But I want the '09 version of this gift box (I believe it has snow fairy):
Yummy yummy yummy is a fave. I'd buy it again but I want to try snow fairy :-) I'm not a big fan of the lip balms, probably because I love my Crabtree & Evelyn Aloe Vera lip balm. Definitely buying another one of those when my current one is used up. It's funny, I originally bought it as a Secret Santa present but decided to try it for myself. Worked out well :-D I like most lush soaps, more so than the showel gels simply because the bottles annoy me! I think I'd prefer a pump or a softer bottle.
Oh this is just my new toy. I saw this in Myer and thought it was so adorable! Then I left and my bf surprised me with it later that day. So sweet.

MAC Baroque Boudoir
A very small MAC purchase! My D'Nouveau lip gloss from the Baroque Boudoir collection arrived today. Yay! Of course I fell in love with the packaging:
I don't know why I even bother looking at the MAC swatch on their website. Youtube/blogger swatches ftw! I was originally going to get Lap of Luxury and a lipstick but I saw a couple of vids and was drawn to this lip gloss. And I absolutely love it, it's so pretty. I must have sat there for a good 5 mins with this face @_@ just going 'oooh pretty'. I would have liked to get Preciousness as well, but I've already spent enough this holiday season :-(
As you can see the colour is beautiful and more pink than the MAC website shows. It took me forever to find a manual setting and good lighting but I persisted with showing this gloss on over bare lips:
Oh I'm sorry, I got distracted. I was still staring at the lip gloss (meep).
Ahem what else. I also went to Dusk to get mum another xmas gift:
These are so cute. They are metallic purple tea light candle holders. The star part is see-through. The one on the left is a candle in a glass holder. I just liked the packaging :-)

Small MAC lippy purchase
I was having a bit of crap week last week so I ordered some MAC online as retail therapy. I really need to stop doing that! Anyhoo, it wasn't much, just a glaze lipstick and a (tinted) lipglass (and possibly a brush, heh).
When I opened the Gleam lipstick up at work I almost had a heart attack because I thought it was just like the Dream glaze lipstick from the MAC holiday collection. They *are* different, but as glazes, it's not very noticeable. Dream is much more pink.
I tried to do swatches with my fantastic Nikon Coolpix P80 but eventually rage gave up! So I'm thinking Gleam will make a good purse lippie to carry around. As for the Runway Fave (limited edition supposedly) lipglass, at first look I wasn't impressed with the way it looked on me under blazing heat lamps, but in natural light it's very pretty! This was more of a random "let's see how it goes" kind of purchase.
Then today I get the email for the darn Baroque Boudoir collection. It didn't come out as early as US/UK (but I set a gmail reminder for it so I could youtube all the wonderful videos before I made my selection :-) And good thing I did too, MAC website swatches are a bit tricky! I only ended up buying a lip gloss. Will post that next time ;-)
I can't really justify buying more MAC. I tend to use the reasoning that I'll regret not trying it out. E.g. if only I was aware of MAC when the Hello Kitty collection was out (my massive Sanrio collection is another story entirely). As hobbies go, this is a very expensive one!

Mecca Cosmetics Purchase
Last weekend I was perusing Mecca Cosmetics at my local shopping centre when I came across the By Terry range. I had seen Laura's collective haul and thought that an ultra sheer blush is something I'd like to try (despite it's hefty price tag). Sadly, the Fresh Rose was sold out, so I ordered the Coral Rose. Since I was ordering online I decided to add another product so I could get the most out of my shipping costs (2 products for $10). I would have gone back to the store but once you factor in petrol, pay parking, and my ever-so-urgent need for blush, online shopping seemed like the way to go. And I don't know about you, but hectic holiday shopping is NOT something I enjoy. So this is what I got:
I was pleasantly surprised by the free samples you were offered upon check-out so I added the two creams at the back of the photo. And yes my second purchase was a Nars blush in that colour:
I tried the By Terry blush today, it's quite lovely and it *does* smell so sweet. I was walking around today and still smelling it. Not as sheer as I expected but I like it. And for 110AUD I'm using every last drop :-)
And to their credit, the Mecca order was beautifully wrapped in purple tissue paper and placed in their gift bag:
I'm such a sucker for lovely packaging. I was actually shopping again today when I saw a lady in front of me carrying THREE large sized Mecca gift bags. I wonder what was in them! I really liked the Mecca Cosmetics website so I followed up my purchase with a second order - this time as a Christmas gift for my bf, which was in the Kiehl's range:
I'm interested to know how it goes because my bf definitely needs a decent pre-shave scrub. Have given him a few things from the Clinique and Clarins range so we'll see how this goes.
As a follow up to my last post, I tried OPI's Mauving to Manitoba and I don't mind it. It's not really my colour, it's too 'safe' for me. It's a nice burgundy but I really wanted something bright and fuchsia coloured, so maybe next time :-)
I think next post will be a Holiday Lush related post. Seriously, who doesn't love lush!
