Day 18 of the Nail Polish Advent Calendar: Mint Condition

Day 18 of the Advent calendar embraces the festivity of holiday season with plenty of glitter and nail art. Using China Glaze Mrs Claus as a base, I've drawn on some candy peppermints:

Cute! I would have liked to draw the lollipop stems on it or something like that. I really wanted to draw bows but you wouldn't believe how hard that is with a nail art pen ;-) I'm really loving China Glaze holiday polishes for 2010. Mrs Claus is definitely one of my favourites. That cherry glitter is just gorgeous!

Well I hope everyone has finished their Christmas shopping and doesn't have to brave the craziness of the shops right now @_@ Don't forget to come back tomorrow for another holiday polish!

Day 17 of the Nail Polish Advent Calendar: Coal Hearted

Day 17 of the Advent calendar presents a similar theme to day 6 - the naughty list. I really love the charcoal colours, so that's where I went for today's polish:

For this look I simply used Chanel's Steel and a red Sally Hansen nail art art pen to draw on some big red hearts. Very simple but cute :-)

I know it's summer here in Australia, but Steel seems like the perfect winter holiday polish for those that want something a little more darker and not so 'blingy' ;-) Well when I say summer I mean days of storms and rain :-| Sigh for my tropical beach Queensland holiday... Anyway, I hope you come back tomorrow for yet another holiday polish - Christmas is only just around the corner!

Day 16 of the Nail Polish Advent Calendar: Snowy Sled!

Day 16 of the Advent Calendar brings you a glittery combo of red and white, using Essie's Scarlet O'Hara, China Glaze Mrs Claus, topped off with OPI Happy Anniversary:

While I wasn't originally going to add the Happy Anniversary, I felt it was too similar to Day 5 - Cherry Kisses, even though I used different polishes ;-) So I put on a coat of Happy Anniversary, which I love and decorated with white 'snow' using a Sally Hansen nail art pen :-) This looks quite pretty together and is a very festive look for Christmas.

Essie Scarlet O'Hara is a deep metallic red, much deeper and warmer than Jag-U-Are, and of course we've seen Mrs Claus before and well as Happy Anniversary!

I thought I'd post some more pics of the Christmas tree since we finally put lights up (sadly I took these photos during the day, sigh!)

Since my boyfriend and I come from different states, we normally have two Christmases, one together (tree above) and one back with family. And aren't you just wondering what the present on the left is ! ;-)

Our newest addition to the tree, isn't he cute!

The boyfriend was getting creative with the SLR... I really need to play with it more. The Nikon D90 can be quite a lot to take in...

Well I hope everyone is having a good December, enjoying the Christmas parties and holidays if you're lucky enough to be on them already ;-) Come back tomorrow for another holiday polish!

Day 15 of the Nail Polish Advent Calendar: Eggnog Snog!

Day 15 of the Advent calendar brings you a more subtle holiday polish. As much as I love glitter nails, I can do looks that don't necessarily involve glitter ;-) I present to you Eggnog Snog, a gorgeous combination of Essie Chips No Potatoes and OPI Glitzerland:

To be honest I was a little hesitant applying the Essie polish as it was so yellow and sheer, but when I added the OPI Glitzerland tips, I was in love. I really like this combination and I hope you do too! Click the picture for a better view :-)

Anyway I have packing to do! I'm off to Queensland for my Christmas Holidays and even though it will probably rain / flood the whole time I'm there, I can't wait to be home with family and friends. The Advent posts will continue so stay tuned for more holiday polishes :-D

Day 14 of the Nail Polish Advent Calendar: Blue This Christmas

Day 14 of the Advent calendar brings together 2 bold blues from OPI collections - Ogre the top blue and Absolutely Alice from the Shrek and Alice in Wonderland collections. For some reason I've never tried either of these polishes until just now? Obviously have way too many polishes to play with, but doesn't it look pretty...

Ogre the top blue is a bright blue cream polish and Absolutely alice is quite franky, an absolutely gorgeous blue and silver glitter polish. A definite wintery holiday feel...

I think you can still find Absolutely Alice and Ogre the top blue as they're recent collections (I don't believe the Alice polish sold out quite as much as the mad hatter glitter polish) so if you come across these, they are worth picking up. I don't know if I could wear the blue on its own, but layered these two polishes create something special!

Don't forget to check out tomorrow's holiday polish :-)

Day 13 of the Nail Polish Advent Calendar: Mistletoe Woes

Day 13 of the Advent calendar brings together two recent polishes, Mistletoe kisses from the China Glaze Holiday 2010 collection and Illamasqua's Viridian from the Art of Darkness collection. I've layered Mistletoe Kisses on Viridian:

Viridian is a deep peacock green and the tiny specks of glitter from Mistletoe Kisses give it that Christmas feel. I also love to wear both these polishes on their own, Viridian is particularly gorgeous (but I do have a weakness for Peacock shades :-)

Stay tuned for another holiday polish tomorrow!

Day 12 of the Nail Polish Advent Calendar: Christmas Party!

Day 12 of the Advent calendar brings a very sparkly and festive cheer to the holiday season with another glitter combo - this time OPI's Curry up don't be late layered with Sparkle-icious. I love these Burlesque glitters and the multicoloured glitter layered on top of the golden shimmer is really something special:

If you click on the picture you'll see how pretty the glitter is close up! Well I hope you enjoyed today's Advent polish - check out tomorrow's holiday polish for more festive and fun ideas :-D
